The three states agreed to protect patients from other states seeking reproductive health care as well as safe access to contraceptive and abortion access, and also to refuse to cooperate with states that have laws punishing either people seeking reproductive health care or doctors who provide reproductive care services like abortion.

California is one of four states, including Oregon, Minnesota and Tennessee, along with Washington, D.C., that have proposed new laws.

The opinion expressed impatience with the federal appeals court in California for disregarding the Supreme Court’s instructions.
