A landlord being sued for erasing an iconic San Jose mural settled a lawsuit years prior for removing another artist’s work.

Though it is unclear whether negligence or intentional disregard for the artist led to the mural being erased, it is a grave loss for us all.

Jose Mesa Velasquez, the artist whose East Side mural was painted over last week, says the property owner gave him no warning.
