At San Jose State University, roughly 13 percent or more than 4,000 students experience homelessness within a year, according to a 2019 California State University report.

SJSU President Mary Papazian said the university secured $3.1 million from the CSU system to address housing insecurity.

The response from SJSU administrators has fallen short of their promises—such as providing safe parking in one of the nearby garages.
