Prosecutors say Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputy Sukhdeep Gill staged a “shocking ambush” to make it seem like he was shot.

The news comes less than a week after a group of right-wing terrorists stormed the U.S. Capitol.

Milpitas police shared few details about the incident, saying they ordered a shelter-in-place “out of an abundance of caution.”

The Mercury News broke the story today about the off-duty revelry, which reportedly took place on Dec. 6.

The outbreak is the first detected transmission of the virus in the county’s juvenile facilities since the pandemic began in March.

The order stems from an appeal filed by one of several defendants accused of conspiring to exchange bribes for concealed gun permits

Attorneys for local insurance broker Harpreet Chadha and Apple security chief Thomas Moyer call the pay-to-play allegations baseless.

The charges name Apple’s Thomas Moyer, insurance broker Harpreet Chadha, Undersheriff Rick Sung and Capt. James Jensen. 

An additional indictment was handed down for Capt. James Jensen, who was among several defendants already charged in the case.  

Kimberly Matthai, 39, was booked Thursday on several felony counts, including assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

Police say Janice Carlstrom, who was found bound and gagged at a Saratoga office last year, confessed to stealing more than $580,000.

The driver, identified as 54-year-old Hung Nguyen, allegedly damaged three parked airplanes at the East San Jose airport.

The stay issued today by California’s 6th District Court of Appeals demands more information about the DA’s ties to one of the defendants.

Martin Nielsen and Jack Stromgren pleaded guilty today to allegations that they plotted to exchange bribes for CCW permits.
