Residents of the Loma Verde and Cadillac/Winchester neighborhoods were victims of gang-related violent crimes, including assault with deadly weapons, carjacking and robbery.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies apprehended two men suspected of armed robberies in Cupertino early Saturday, after a vehicle pursuit through several cities ended in a foot chase off Highway 85.

Daniel Catano is also suspected of setting at least eight other fires in Gilroy and committing an auto burglary July 10 in Morgan Hill, when one of the victims—an off-duty officer—followed the suspect, who was able to evade officers.

To combat the presence of fentanyl in the correctional facility, Jonsen said he has taken “extraordinary” measures, including conducting multiple facility searches, more frequent welfare checks and numerous K-9 searches.  

Jonsen's 7,163-vote margin, with approximately 19,000 ballots outstanding, meant that Jensen would need nearly 70% of the remaining ballots to edge past Jonsen. As of 1pm today, Jensen had not conceded the race.

After eight days of counting, Jonsen led by 1.44 percentage points. That’s less than half the margin Jonsen had on Election Day, when 49% of votes had been counted.

San Jose fire officials reported that no one was injured in the fire, the fire appeared to have started in the lumber area of the store and the cause of the fire was not suspicious.

A preliminary investigation indicated there were no signs of foul play.

At first glance, the 19-year veteran looks cut from a different cloth than other candidates—running for elected office for the first time
