The preliminary DUI pilot program in Santa Clara County will be limited to arrestees who are non-violent, first-time misdemeanor DUI arrestees to avoid spending time in jail, while receiving alcohol-related support services at the Mission Street Recovery Station in San Jose.

In response to soaring overdose deaths in state prisons, California started a sprawling addiction treatment program, which serves addicts in prison and after their release. At a mobile health clinic in San Jose, health workers treat formerly incarcerated patients.

The Asian/Pacific Islander Community Health Worker pilot program will work with local nonprofits and hire health workers to care for seven specific Asian communities in the county. 

Three sites, at the county Fairgrounds in San Jose, in San Martin and Mountain View, will offer vaccinations by appointment only this week.
