A three-month investigation ended last week when police arrested Peter Karasev, 36, on suspicion of bombing transformers on Thornwood Drive in December and on Snell Avenue in January.

A man who was on life support for more than a week after being shot in San Jose on New Year's Day died from his injuries Monday, An arrest was made, but city police declined to identity the suspect or victim.

The arrest stemmed from the suspect initiating online contact with someone whom he believed to be a 16-year-old San Jose female who was in fact an undercover police officer, then buying a plane ticket to fly her to Baltimore for sexual purposes.

Israel Santiago, 43, of Morgan Hill, was arrested on a warrant accusing him of sexual assaults on “at least 10” students at Adelante Dual Language Academy, a TK-8 school in East San Jose.

Police said the suspect worked as a physical therapist for the California Children’s Services, where the survivor was receiving physical therapy treatments from the suspect due to a medical condition. They encouraged any other victims to come forward.
