Officers on Sunday cited and released an East Palo Man on suspicion of two misdemeanor counts of battery and one misdemeanor hate crime.

On June 10, 2001, Maria Hsiao was celebrating her 21st birthday with family and friends when she was shot in the head while standing in a crowd outside the Q Cafe, a former pool hall on Alma Street that is now Patagonia Palo Alto.

Robert Wenzlau was arrested at his home by Palo Alto police, who were alerted last month by a sheriff's office in Georgia that a man had used a mobile app to correspond with an undercover officer posing as a 12-year-old girl. 

Police said their investigation revealed that Cesar Eduardo Castro Moreno had sexually assaulted the victim during a massage appointment. Palo Alto police said they are not aware of any additional victims.

Daniel Widyanto Condronimpino, 34, of Palm Beach, Fla., is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a pedestrian tunnel that connects California and Alma avenues in Palo Alto on April 9.

A 35-year-old Walnut Creek man was arrested on suspicion of crimes that include misdemeanor battery, assault and a hate crime in connection with the March 3 incidents in downtown Palo Alto.

A bicylist near University Avenue and Webster Street reported that a driver of a passing vehicle called him a racial epithet, spat on him and then intentionally collided with him, causing a minor injury. The suspect is unknown and at large.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, about 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a lanky frame and beard. He was wearing an orange beanie hat. The victim told police that she had seen the suspect recently on the late-night bus.

Peter Michael Columbo, a 55-year-old Redwood City resident, was a part-time coach employed by the city in Palo Alto's middle school athletic program, at Greene (formerly Jordan) Middle School between 2015 and 2019. 

The female suspect got out of a car and told the elerly pedestrian that she reminded her of her mother and asked if she could give her a piece of her mother's jewelry.

Palo Alto police learned that a woman in her 50s had been sitting in her parked car when someone opened her passenger door and demanded her purse and keys.

Seven puppies were among 27 dogs placed in the rear cargo area of the Pets in Need van, which lacked air conditioning. The employees did not provide water to the animals,

Ismael Hernandez Rodriguez, 28, of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.
