Kihn toured the world and won a number of awards for his hit songs “Jeopardy,” “The Breakup Song,” “Remember” and “Lucky,” and was well known to Bay Area audiences as the morning radio host for KFOX for 17 years.

A strong advocate for music, the arts and education, Holden was very involved with a variety of community organizations.

Harwell was a founding member of the band, which broke out in the late 1990s with hit songs like Walkin’ on the Sun and All Star. He was born on Jan. 9, 1967, and grew up in San Jose.

Interned in wartime as a Japanese American, Mineta went to Congress and became the first Japanese American cabinet officer, serving Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

We’re sad to announce that Leigh Weimers has passed away at the age of 76. Warm and easygoing, Leigh was a much beloved figure in San Jose who wrote a column for the San Jose Mercury News for 47 years. Leigh went into the hospital a month ago for congestive heart failure and was scheduled for heart surgery this week.

Mr. Doug McNea passed away last weekend. One headline read, “San Jose Tax Activist Doug McNea Dies At GOP Convention.” The label, “Tax Activist” doesn’t do the man justice. Doug McNea was a man of principle who stood up for his ideas. He also stood up for others. Doug was active in the fight to save the Tropicana Shopping Center when the city tried to take it over through eminent domain.
