An emergency housing voucher program offers improvements to the decades-old federal solution to the housing affordability crisis, but landlord reluctance remains a crucial hurdle.
Proposals announced Wednesday by San Jose city leaders would triple emergency housing units to 1,000, quadruple San José Bridge jobs, and reduce illegal dumping.
The City of San José said it will leverage federal emergency housing vouchers, HOME funding, and County Measure A funds to deliver 1,134 re-housing units, 683 bridge transitional units, and 861 newly-built permanent homes over the next year.
