An infant that had been surgically removed from its mother who was killed in the vehicle collision in San Jose has now also died,

San Jose police responded Thursday at 6:26pm to the area of Ocala Avenue and Oakton Court to a report that a red pickup truck traveling west on Ocala Avenue had struck two women in a crosswalk.

The BMW struck a 2012 black Acura SUV that was stopped in the eastbound lanes of Santa Clara Street, then the male driver of the BMW fled on foot and remains at large, according to police.

San Jose Polce released a video of the car involved in the tragic hit-and-run death of wheelchair-bound mother of five more than four months ago, on eve of noon rally today at City Hall.

Anyone with information about the fatal collision is asked to call San Jose police.

This marks the city’s 16th traffic fatality in 2021.

The collision was reported about 5pm on April 8 in the 1100 block of South First Street in San Jose.
