The CHP said the crash was triggered when a Ford pickup truck traveling north on Highway 101 in Sunnyvale struck the center divider and came to a stop, blocking some northbound lanes. Other cars then hit the pickup and also stopped in the northbound lanes. 

The complaint is the second lawsuit to declare that project in northern San Benito County would harm cultural resources and threaten the environment.

The officer, who was not identified, reported that he was not injured when his personal vehicle was struck at least one time by gun fire on Highway 101 near Route 85.

The Highway 101 Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge spans 1,400 feet in length from the West Bayshore Road landing to the East Bayshore Road landing. 

The proposal would lengthen but not increase the tax set by Measure Q, which county voters overwhelmingly approved six years ago.
