A VTA employees was shot and killed Friday evening at the VTA Chaboya Division Yard on the 2200 block of South 7th Street near Costco and the County Fairgrounds.

Santa Clara Police Department officers arrived in the area of the Feb. 20 fatal shooting, and arrested the suspect as he walked on the sidewalk of White Oak Lane.

Santa Clara police identified the man in the apartment where the boy’s body was found as Sergio Colin Gomez. They said he resisted arrest and after a brief struggle, was taken into custody at the scene of the homicide.

Independent report concluded that Councilmember Rebeca Armendariz violated Gilroy city ordinances in connection with an October 2021 party that ended in the fatal shooting of one teen and wounding of three others.

Santa Clara County prosecutors said today they do not have enough evidence to file charges against Benjamin David Calderon, whom Gilroy Police arrested Oct. 30 in relation to a fatal shooting at a Gilroy city councilmember’s home. 

Campbell police said officers responded at about 10:45 a.m. Nov. 2 to reports of a shooting and a person down in the roadway on the 300 block of W. Sunnyoaks Avenue, where they found a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He later died in the hospital.

Efrain Anzures, 27, and Alfred Castillo, 26, are in custody following the shooting reported at about 3:40pm Sunday in the 5200 block of Great Oaks Drive, where officers arrived and found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Demetrius Stanley, 31, died in the shooting shortly before 9:45 p.m. on May 31 in the 1100 block of Tofts Drive, where plainclothes officers had gone on a surveillance operation related to a prior criminal case involving Stanley.

The motive for the fatal shooting at 1:50pm Thursday morning, the 18th homicide in San Jose in 2021, is under investigation, police said.
