The popular San Jose steakhouse was shut down for a day after health inspectors observed vermin in the food prep facilities.

A San Jose restaurant linked to a Shigella outbreak that sickened nearly 200 people has been cleared to reopen, officials announced Thursday.

Public health officials say at least 182 people have been sickened by a bacterial infection after eating at a San Jose seafood restaurant.

Santa Clara County may enact a health ordinance to protect nail technicians, who work long hours around toxic chemicals. About 80 percent of the 7,200 registered nail technicians in the county are Vietnamese. The vast majority are immigrant women, around childbearing age, who report headaches, pregnancy complications and other health problems because of the work they do.

The county launched its new restaurant grading system, giving foodies some useful insight on where to eat—while also noting a few places that had issues, unless you enjoy food prepped in "vermin"-infested kitchens.
