California is the seventh U.S. state to adopt mobile driver’s licenses for iPhones, part of a growing push by businesses and governments to make digital IDs commonplace.
One complaint alleges that a retired California Highway Patrol officer sexually harassed and sexually battered a female employee at a San Jose CHP facility.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office is also mourning the loss of Deputy Richard "Troy" Reynolds, a 27-year veteran, who died July 11 from a medical emergency as he was heading out for work.
The CHP said the crash was triggered when a Ford pickup truck traveling north on Highway 101 in Sunnyvale struck the center divider and came to a stop, blocking some northbound lanes. Other cars then hit the pickup and also stopped in the northbound lanes.
The officer, who was not identified, reported that he was not injured when his personal vehicle was struck at least one time by gun fire on Highway 101 near Route 85.
