Today, artificial intelligence infrastructure is dominated by just three companies: Amazon, Google and Microsoft.

California officials cited failures to disclose productivity requirements in Riverside and San Bernadino counties, accusing Amazon of violating a state law that has regulated warehouse quotas since 2022. The company said it would appeal.

The California Assembly last week voted 56-8 to approve a bill to force disclosures from artificial intelligence companies. The Senate now takes up the measure, which is opposed by the influential California Chamber of Commerce.

The Federal Trade Commission and 17 states sued Amazon, saying its conduct in its online store and services to merchants illegally stifled competition. California, which is not part of the F.T.C. suit, filed a separate lawsuit last year against Amazon.
