Down Highway 85, at the Summit Steakhouse, Teresa Alvarado’s roughly 50 guests had swamped the bar area and practically cleaned out steam trays of what looked like enchiladas.
Alvarado herself stood at the center of a crowd of people in the middle of the dimly lit room. “It’s going really good,” said Alvarado, as someone handed her a seltzer water. “We’ve done our best.”
Alvarado was locked in a tight battle for second place with Forest Williams, who had only a scant 32 votes more than Alvarado. As post midnight totals rolled in, Williams increased his lead to more than 200 votes
Congratulations Forrest! I look forward to working on your campaign to win in Nov.
If I were you, I’d invest my time more wisely. Its clear Wasserman has got this seat in the bag, come November. District One has always been more conservative than our local media likes to admit, so I wasn’t at all surprised when Wasserman got more votes than Williams and Alvarado combined.
You might also not want to count your chickens before they hatch. They are STILL counting absentee ballots, and apparently the people who voted absentee preferred Teresa Alvarado to Forrest Williams. As of 2:31 pm, Friday, Ms. Alvarado was just 33 votes behind Mr. Williams. I suspect when the next batch of absentee results are released (scheduled for Monday, June 14th, at 5 pm), Ms. Alvarado will be in the lead, and she will retain that lead, as the final votes are tallied.
I predicted* on May 12th that this race would be a run-off between Alvarado and Wasserman, and it looks like I’m going to be correct.

Kevin,
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. You never know what will take place between now and Nov.
