Sites for Our Eyes

Observant San Jose Inside readers, of which there are legions, will have noticed that we link to a variety of other websites. (link)  For those of you who haven’t observed this, do not be ashamed.  Not even our duly elected leaders catch all the details all the time, like the fine print in garbage contracts or signs at press conferences.

We currently link to 26 local websites, ranging from the Almaden Resident to a local blog called Teal Sunglasses.

If you know of other sites or blogs, tell us.

We’ll also consider linking to non-local sites.  Tell us what websites you read on a regular basis, other than ours of course.

Here’s my list:

Rough and Tumble (link) —the most comprehensive site for California news about government and politics

ABC’s The Note (link) – This is the best source for national political news, with clever writing.

Westly for Governor (link) –  I read our blog to get ideas and feedback from supporters.

Technorati (link) –  This site monitors the blogosphere and has terrific search functions.

Kinky Friedman for Governor (link) – He’s running for Governor of Texas as an Independent and will have the most off beat campaign in America this year.

The Onion (link) – This is the funniest site on the web and, aside from San Jose Inside, the one with articles I most frequently send to friends and colleagues.

  1. I’ve known Kinky Friedman for twenty-five years and he’s absolutely hilarious. If he wins Texas’ gubanatorial election it will be even funnier than his books.

As for blogs and sites I read…try gawker.com…a manahattan media gossip blog that is both insightful and funny…with links to many other washington based political blogs.

Also on a more serious level…poynter.org…a web site for the Poynter Institute…especially Romensko’s coloumn on the media……the site bills itself as “everything you need to be a better journalist”.

  2. Jude,

I looked at the Westly site where he makes a big deal about releasing his tax returns to the public.  Unfortunately I could not find a link to download the tax returns to view the cronyism of the dot com era with my own eyes. Does the “public” only include those with press passes?

Neither, actually.  I did find the website name amusing in context.

So, maybe you know the answer to the question I posed on another blog in SJI—is it true that there are serious below grade water problems at The Taj Gonzal?
