A Santa Clara County inmate died at the hospital Monday, according to the Sheriff's Office.
On April 21, the 36-year-old man was booked without bail for an outstanding warrant at San Jose’s Main Jail, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. James Jensen said.
Medical staff knew about the man’s many pre-existing health conditions, Jensen said, so they placed him in the jail infirmary, where he received 24-hour medical care.
During a medical exam Monday afternoon, nurses decided that the inmate needed emergency care. An ambulance took him to Valley Medical Center, where he died hours later after experiencing a “medical emergency” just after 8pm.
The Sheriff’s Office, which oversees the county’s two jails, will follow standard protocol, Jensen said. That involves, but isn’t limited to, calling on detectives, alerting the District Attorney’s Office and the Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
Jensen said that until the family is notified, no more information will be released.
The Sheriff's Office has faced unprecedented scrutiny since a mentally ill inmate was found beaten to death on the floor of his cell last August. Three jail guards were charged with murder in connection to Michal Tyree's death.
In the month that followed, another two inmates died while in custody.

Look how Laurie went from Matron to Under Sheriff jumping over more experienced Men. calling on detectives, alerting the District Attorney’s Office and the Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office .
In 1968-9, when I was there they had security cameras just like the ones the banks starting using in San Jose. One problem was the FELONY ELEVATOR or “TROUBLE MAKER RIDE UP STAIRS”. That’s where you entered in one piece and had a “Personality Adjustment” completed. After a “Bulldog” from Chicago almost died they decided to either end the practice or install a camera. They ended the practice. Now come on folks almost 48 years has passed since cameras have been installed in SCCO Jails and the Sheriff’s Department Offices. Two people dead now and no footage from body cams, dash cams or stationaries.
Look how long they hid the first murder and pretended to find a relative? Now they have bought time with the same pretense and called in Jeff “The Police Murder Exonerator” Rosen, the Master Sleuth Coroner and his rubber stamp and Detectives to investigate their best friends on the Department and retirees working for “Milktoast” Rosen DA’s Office.
They only need to do two things, 1. make sure there are no family or find them and make a good ” Non-Disclosure Statement, 2. move the killers to another assignment.
Was he murdered? It doesn’t matter cause your never gonna know about it or the settlement!!!!!!!!
This sounds like a medical issue with the staff following protocol. How would a camera have helped the man?
Could it be, some people die all by themselves? He did have preexisting conditions and died at Valley Med.
