Today the Merc ran the article “A little zip and zoom” by Victor Chi comparing NASCAR to the NHL. Mr. Chi offers this suggestion on how the NHL could improve: “…more fighting is a good place to start.” He continues “…look at the success of reality shows and Ultimate Fighting, then tell us more scrapping won’t lure more eyeballs.” Finally he writes about the success of NASCAR: “…one of NASCAR’s most famous moments—the 1979 Daytona 500—had a crash and a fight.”
I am not sure if Mr. Chi is serious here but if he is the Merc should be ashamed at such reporting. Many of our youth look up to our local hockey players.
