The closure of downtown streets in San Jose for the giant NVIDIA GTC 2025 Conference continues through Saturday.
Billed as the world’s premier AI conference, the event’s 900 sessions, hundreds of exhibits and technical workshops has drawn an estimated 25,000 attendees, according to city officials.
The street closures, which began March 12, are continuing to 9pm Saturday, March 22.
- San Carlos St. (Both Directions) – Closed between Almaden Blvd to Market St
- Market St. (Southbound Direction) – Closed between San Fernando St to San Carlos St,
- Market St. (Northbound Direction) – Closed between San Carlos St to San Fernando St.- One traffic lane will remain open for local/hotel access only.
- Park Ave. (Both Directions) – Closed between Almaden Blvd to Market St.
- Viola Ave. (Both Directions) – Closed between Almaden Ave to Market St
A special 30 minute closure for a display showcase on the intersection of Market Street and San Carlos Street, extending the closure to Market Street and San Salvador Street, that began Monday, continues today through Friday on this schedule:
- March 19: 2:30 – 3pm, 8 – 8:30pm
- March 20: 2:30 – 3pm, 8 – 8:30pm
- March 21: 11:30am – 12pm
The city reported that many restaurants and hotels have been fully booked.
“That translates to more hours and bigger paychecks for hardworking San José residents,” Mayor Matt Mahan said in a statement. “This is about making a real, tangible impact — from restaurants and shops to hotels and our growing retail scene. It’s also about making a lasting impact – we want the best and brightest, the next generation of founders visiting for GTC, to leave here with a plan to come back.”
