This strike is no longer about fair wages or working conditions. It’s about pay demands that would force route cuts, fare increases and layoffs.

The cost of Proposition 47 is just too high.

We strongly encourage the US government to implore Hamas and Israel to do all they can to work toward a cessation of hostilities, protect civilian lives, and facilitate the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza residents. We also expect Hamas and Israel to release hostages and prisoners based on continued negotiations.

The mayor's message: By getting back to basics and working together, we are beginning to see progress on some of our most challenging issues.

Research shows that sideshow posts can attract hundreds of people in a matter of minutes. We are asking social media platforms to work with our police department to suspend the accounts of people who post content promoting these events.

Chavez is the architect of many of our city and county’s key policies on crime, homelessness, housing and government accountability. The problem is those policies are failing. They don’t need to be defended; they need to be changed.

A one-size-fits-all housing policy fits no one at all. San Jose needs structured, smart growth, not more opportunities for displacement.
