The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office announced this week that five officers who shot and killed a domestic violence suspect in Redwood City in November will not be charged in the case. In the wake of recent gun violence, Santa Clara County leaders voted Tuesday to improve the county's gun buyback and relinquishment program. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors is asking the sheriff's office to hold two regularly scheduled gun buybacks per year. County leaders said that previous gun buybacks have been successful, with several hundred weapons surrendered at each event.

The victim was found dead in Michael James Russell's mother's residence in Corralitos on Nov. 12, 2021. An investigation by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office found that she died of an overdose of four separate narcotics. 

On Saturday around 8am. a sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop in the area of Rutland and Parkmoor avenues in San Jose. During the stop, the driver-- later identified as Ramos-- allegedly fled on foot from the deputy. 

The alleged sexual assault happened when the victim attended Silver Creek High School, where she was a student of the suspect, who is currently a teacher at Yerba Buena High School in East San Jose.

John Arthur Getreu, 78, admitted to the 1973 murder of Lesley Perlov, 16 months after he was convicted in the 1974 killing of another woman in what proxecutors called The Stanford Murders.
