One person died after a car careened off a cliff Friday morning in the Lexington Hills community of Santa Clara County, south of the Lexington Reservoir, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported just before 8am today on northbound state Highway 17 just north of Hebard Road. One person died, according to preliminary information from the CHP. The car was down about 150 feet from the roadway.
