Sheriff Laurie Smith wasted no time in thanking her supporters at Gordon Biersch Brewery in Japantown before jetting off to the Labor Temple to pay homage to those who supported her incumbency.
Considering the early returns, who could blame her? All but two unions threw her support instead of Kevin Jensen, and Smith snared more than 60 percent of the vote after absentee ballots were released at 8pm.
While she caravanned across town, supporters toasted Marzens and fell in lockstep for the taco stand that dished up carne asada and chicken taco plates. Those kicking back indoors snacked on guacamole bowls the size of lampshades.
