Police Blotter: April 22-30, 2014

The San Jose Police Department blotter for April 22-30 includes a pistol-whipping on Oakland Road, a kidnapping at gunpoint and a meth bust in downtown. The following information was taken from reports created by SJPD staff:

Date/Time: April 30, 2014—4pm

Location: Central Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Officers working gang suppression conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in two probation searches and field interviews of several subjects.

Date/Time: April 30, 2014—9am

Location: Mexican Heritage Plaza

Type of Incident: Community event

Details: The Domestic Violence Information & Resources Collaborative and the Office of Women's Policy hosted Family Empowerment Day at theMexican Heritage Plaza (King/Alum Rock). Approximately 27 organizations committed to providing family oriented services to the community were in attendance. The San Jose Police Departments Family Violence Unit attended and provided information on police related services available to the community.

Date/Time: April 26, 2014—1:23am

Location: Kaplan Court and Sierra Road

Type of Crime: Attempted home invasion

Details: Four subjects planned to commit a home invasion robbery. They were armed with a  gun One of the subjects went into the back yard, while the other three were knocking on the front door. As officers arrived, the subjects fled the scene. Three of the four subjects were arrested. The gun and other indicia were recovered.

Date/Time: April 26, 2014—3am

Location: Santa Clara and North 15th streets

Type of Crime: Robbery

Details: Two suspects approached the victim, produced weapons and demanded personal property. The suspects fled on foot. No injuries were reported. The unidentified suspects were not located and remain at large. The investigation is ongoing.

Date/Time: April 26, 2014—3:26pm

Location: Toyon Avenue and McKee Road

Type of Crime: Fatal traffic collision

Details: Officers responded to a solo vehicle traffic collision in the area of Toyon Avenue and McKee Road. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim who was outside his vehicle. The victim collided into a tree on the north sidewalk of Toyon Avenue north of Mckee Road. The victim subsequently collapsed and suffered an unknown type of medical condition. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Location: 100 block of South 10th Street

Type of Crime: Narcotics arrest, stolen motorcycle

Details: Crime Prevention Unit and Metro Officers conducted a joint investigation on information received from CrimeStoppers. METRO Officers continued the investigation which led to the arrest of a suspect who was in possession of methamphetamine, a rifle, ammunition and a stolen motorcycle.

Location: Foothill Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Officers working gang suppression conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in one arrest for narcotics and illegal possession. The suspect was booked into the county jail.

Date/Time: April 25, 2014—2pm

Location: 1800 block of Evans Lane

Type of Crime: Armed robbery

Details: The suspect approached the victim, held a sharp instrument to her neck and demanded personal property. The suspect fled the scene on foot with personal property belonging to the victim.  The victim did not report any injuries. The unidentified suspect was not located and remains at large. The investigation is ongoing.

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Officers working gang suppression conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in several probation searches, one arrest for an outstanding warrant and three unoccupied stolen vehicles were recovered.

Date/Time: April 24, 2014—11:28pm

Location: Story and McGinniss roads

Details: The victim was dropped off on the 1500 Block of Hillmont Avenue with a stab wound to his chest. There is no suspect information and no weapon was recovered. The victim was transported to a local area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Date/Time: April 24, 2014—10:18pm

Location: 1900 Tully Road

Type of Crime: Armed robber, kidnapping

Details: The victim was walking to his vehicle in the parking lot when he was confronted by three suspects, at least one of whom who was armed with a handgun. The suspects forced the victim into his car and forced him at gunpoint to drive a short distance away where his property was taken from him. The suspects fled and were not apprehended. The victim was not injured. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Location: 1800 block of Tully Road

Type of Crime: Armed robbery

Details: Two armed suspects approached the female victim and took personal property. The suspects fled in a vehicle. The victim was not injured. The suspects have not been identified or apprehended. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Date/Time: April 24, 2014—6:45pm

Location: 1600 block of Oakland Road

Type of Crime: Armed robbery

Details: Two males with guns approached the victim as he was standing next to his vehicle at a construction site looking for work. The male produced guns and demanded money. When he refused one suspect struck him in the face with the gun causing injury. The victim produced his wallet and the suspects took money and fled. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspects have not been identified or apprehended. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Date/Time: April 24, 2014—4:42pm

Location: Santa Teresa Boulevard and Bernal Road

Type of Crime: Weapons violation

Details: A citizen reported a male possibly brandished a handgun during a disturbance. Officers located the suspect vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a billy club. The suspect was booked into jail.

Date/Time: April 24, 2014—1:40pm

Location: Story and King roads

Type of Crime: Armed robbery

Details: The two suspects approached the victim from behind and held a sharp object to the victims back. The suspects took the victims personal property and fled the scene. The victim was not injured. The suspects have not been identified or apprehended. The investigation is active an ongoing.

Date/Time: April 24, 2014—2:25am

Location: 1400 block of North First Street

Type of Crime: Armed robbery

Details: Two adult male suspects armed with handguns entered the business and took cash and cigarettes. There were no injuries. The suspects are outstanding.  The investigation is active and ongoing.

Date/Time: April 24, 2014—4:30pm

Location: Southern Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: One sergeant and four officers worked gang suppression in the Southern Division. The officers patrolled gang related hot spots on foot, and in their patrol cars. The areas patrolled were Great Oaks Park, Coy Park and surrounding neighborhoods, Via Monte area, Hoffman Court, and the Roeder/Roundtable area. Officers conducted numerous field interviews.

Date/Time: April 24, 2014—4pm

Location: Southern Division

Type of Crime: Gang supression

Details: Four officers and one supervisor worked a gang suppression detail in the Southern Division. Officers maintained high visibility in designated hot zones. Officers conducted premise checks and foot patrol in the following areas: Roundtable/Roeder, Senter/Buckeye, Via Monte/Tuscon, Blossom Hill/Judith, Seven Trees/Ezie and Comanche Park. Several searches were done including assisting patrol officers at a fight incident at Oakridge Mall. No gang incidents occurred during this assignment.

Location: Southern Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Four officers and one sergeant worked a gang suppression detail in Southern Division. During these hours a validated member of the Sureno criminal street gang V.S.T. (Varrio Sur Trece)was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Designated hotspots were checked and several street checks were conducted.

Location: Shadow Wood Condos

Type of Incident: Community police meeting

Details: SJPD crime prevention specialists Kim Gaddis and Rosana Carrasco hosted a community policing meeting focusing on crime prevention at the Shadow Wood Condominium Complex in San Jose. Approximately 15 residents of the complex attended the meeting and asked numerous law enforcement related questions. Capt. Ciaburro, Sgt. Unger, and Officer Liu were present and represented SJPD Bureau of Field Operations/Central Division. The meeting lasted over an hour. Police and Crime Prevention Specialists discussed how the community can help the police in reporting suspicious activity. Crime Prevention also handed out several fliers to the residents on the subject of crime prevention.

Location: East St. James and North First streets

Type of Crime: Strong armed robbery

Details: Two subjects walked up to the victim as he was walking with his bicycle. One subject grabbed the victim and the other subject grabbed the bicycle. Both subjects fled in different directions and are still outstanding. The victim was not injured. The investigation is active and ongoing

  1. Most crimes in Eastside & downtown. Dollars to donuts the perps were almost all hispanic. Hey, SJPD, start reporting ethnicity of perps and shove it up Jayadev’s and Cordell’s butts.

  2. City hall hates when these hard crimes are reported. Thank god we don’t solely rely on the MN. ITS MAYBERRY over there
