Police Blotter: April 15-20, 2014

The San Jose Police Department blotter for April 15- 20 includes several stabbings, gang sweeps and someone who allegedly pretended to have a gun to scare some people into handing over their belongings. The following information was taken from reports created by SJPD staff:

Date/Time: April 20, 2014—4pm

Location: Bassett and North San Pedro streets

Type of Crime: Assault with deadly weapon

Details: The suspect approached the victim and stabbed him with a sharp weapon. The victim sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Responding officers located the suspect and arrested him. The suspect was booked into the County Jail.

Date/Time: April 20, 2014—4pm

Location: Western Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Officers working gang suppression conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in the arrest of two gang members for probation violation. In addition, officers assisted patrol with calls.

Date/Time: April 19, 2014—9:30pm

Location: 3800 block of Monterey Road

Type of Crime: Assault with deadly weapon

Details: Several males and females got into a verbal argument at a bar. Two victims were stabbed during the altercation. The victims were transported to a local area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The unidentified suspect(s) were not located and remain at large. The investigation is ongoing.

Date/Time: April 19, 2014—5:45pm

Location: Capitol and McLaughlin avenues

Type of Crime: Assault with deadly weapon

Details: The victim was a passenger in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled along side and one of the occupants made a gang statement. The suspect who made the gang inquiry got out of the vehicle and began to physically assault the victim. At some point the suspect pulled out a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim at least one time. The suspect fled in the vehicle and has not been located. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Details: Officers working gang suppression detail conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in several field interviews.

Location: Foothill Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Officers working gang suppression detail conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in one arrest for a felony warrant.

Date/Time: April 18, 2014—5:46pm

Location: 300 block of Elan Village Way

Type of Crime: Armed robbery

Details: The victim provided an unknown female with a car ride to this location from downtown San Jose. As they arrived at the location an unknown male got into the vehicle, simulated a gun and ordered the victim out of the vehicle. The female suspect took personal property from the victims possession and she fled the scene with the male suspect. The victim did not report any injuries. The unidentified suspects have not been located and remain at large. The investigation is ongoing.

Date/Time: April 18, 20214—1:43am

Location: South Second and East San Fernando streets

Type of Crime: Robbery, assault with deadly weapon

Details: The two suspects approached the victim, physically assaulted him and took personal property in his possession. The suspects fled the scene, but were located a short time later by officers who arrested the two suspects. The suspects were booked into the County Jail.

Location: Foothill Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Officers working gang suppression conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in probation searches, but no notable arrest were made.

Location: Central Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Officers working gang suppression conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in one arrest for an outstanding warrant and drug possession.

Date/Time: April 16, 2014—1:25pm

Location: King Road and Monrovia Drive

Type of Crime: Assault with deadly weapon

Details: Officers responded to the area on a report of someone shot. Medical personnel on scene stated the wound appeared to be from a pellet gun. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. A juvenile suspect was located as well as the pellet gun. The suspect was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall.

Date/Time: April 15, 2014—2:09pm

Location: Lanai and Waverly avenues

Type of Crime: Carjacking, assault with deadly weapon

Details: The suspect and the victim got into a verbal argument. The suspect physically assaulted the victim and forcibly took her car keys. A brief struggle ensued and the suspect fled in the victims vehicle. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect has not been located and remains at large. The investigation is ongoing.

Date/Time: April 15, 2014—3:37pm

Location: 3200 block of Williamsburg Drive

Type of Crime: Possession of loaded firearm

Details: Officers received information about a subject who was selling drugs and in possession of a firearm in the area. Officers located a group of subjects nearby and made consensual contact. At some point the officers located drugs and a loaded firearm in the possession of one subject and an additional subject had an outstanding felony warrant. The two subjects were booked into the County Jail.

Location: Southern Division

Type of Crime: Gang suppression

Details: Officers working gang suppression conducted high visibility patrols in known gang hot spots that resulted in the arrest of one person for drugs, violation of probation and a warrant. A second subject was arrested for a felony warrant. Two probation searches were conducted.
